Which curriculum is taught?
We teach the British National Curriculum to children aged 3-16 years.
Children enter the school at 3 years old in Saplings, move through Primary and complete their time with us in Secondary at 16.
We teach the British curriculum but infuse every lesson with thinking skills and creativity.
We are regularly inspected and fully authorized by NABBS, the National Association of British Schools in Spain: we are also affiliated with this organisation.
Our children aged 6-16 also follow the official Spanish government programme for 4 – 5h per week. Completing this programme gains them the convalidación, the Catalan government’s certification that a pupil has reached a good standard of Spanish and Catalan.
What is the required level of English?
We ensure every class has a high proportion of fluent/native speakers of English, and a minority of non-fluent speakers. This creates a strong immersion for our beginners in English.
The British inspectorate has praised our high level of English and our effective immersion programme.
Which ages are taught?
We teach children and young adults aged 3-16 years.

What are our class sizes?
We have small class sizes and only one class per year group.

Years 1, 2 and 3: maximum 20 children per class + 2 teachers (1 teacher: 10 children)
Years 4 to Year 6: maximum 20 children per class
Year 7 to Year 11 maximum 20 children per class
Where are the teachers from?
Our teachers are all British government-trained and qualified, and also native speakers of English. Our Spanish and Catalan teachers are native speakers, qualified by the Spanish government.
Every teacher is chosen for their commitment to creating warm bonds with pupils, and for their rich experience in pupil-centred learning.

Between 4-6 hours per week of Spanish and Catalan as your child grows
2 hours or more per week of Art
2 hours per week of Music & Choir
2 hours per week of P.E., supplemented by daily sport in lunchtimes and breaktimes
Which language is spoken on the playground?
English is the language we hear most on the playground. We also hear some Spanish. We have pupils of 30 nationalities: English is definitely our common language.
What are the nationalities?
The majority of families come from English-speaking countries.
In second place are our Spanish-speaking families, followed by Dutch, German and Russian.
We also have pupils who are Polish, Ukrainian, Argentinian, Japanese and Brazilian; a wonderful mix, which we celebrate regularly with focused days to understand the culture and heritage of a range of countries.
How do lunches work?
Your child may either bring in a packed lunch from home or contract a school lunch. We have a local caterer who provides us with a daily menu comprising three dishes:
- A starter such as soup or paella
- The main dish such as chicken, fish or a vegetarian dish
- A dessert: either fresh fruit or yoghurt.
The price is 8.95 € per day if your child has school lunches every day of the month. If your child only occasionally has a school lunch, the price per day is 9.95 €.

Is there car sharing?
Some families like to car share for their trip to and from school.
If you are coming to us from Barcelona, Castelldefels, Olivella or Vilanova we are happy to put you in touch with parents in those areas for possible carpooling.
First aid
There is always at least one fully trained First Aider in school to provide the best medical care. All our staff take part in a First Aid course every September.
